Boosting business with the power of AI in Mexico

Ignite your business innovation with AI

Did you know that artificial intelligence (AI) can revolutionize your business processes and give you a competitive edge? At the AI Symposium, GBS Mexico showcased the wide range of possibilities offered by Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) for business solutions, with the possibility of retrieving information or creating content in a preconfigured and easy-to-consume way.

GenAI Symposium in Mexico

Working together, Global Business Services (GBS) Mexico teamed up with our Digital Solutions - Digital Lab team for their first AI Symposium earlier in September. With two symposiums located in the cities of Monterrey and Juárez, more than 120 participants, including customers, took part in the event between both locations.

This innovative consulting format was developed to help clients devise, evaluate and prioritize the use of GenAI based on technical and business feasibility. With GBS support, people can learn how GenAI works and how they can use it in their daily activities, while also understanding its risks and limitations.

Designed to empower our customers in understanding GenAI technology and its possibilities, the symposium highlights a path to innovation through hands-on activities. Through the use of combined theoretical and practical learning experiences, attendees not only are able to visualize the use of AI tools but are also able to apply them first-hand.

In addition to this, workshops on innovation and design thinking methodology were facilitated, enabling participants to generate creative ideas on how to utilize AI to solve current challenges. These sessions illustrated how GBS can play a pivotal role in supporting the development and implementation of AI-driven solutions to enhance business productivity.

Generative AI to transform the future

GenAI is revolutionizing the landscape of artificial intelligence by moving beyond mere data analysis and prediction to the creation of entirely new content . Unlike traditional AI, which excels in tasks such as classification and forecasting, GenAI generates new content based on prompts and on the data available in existing datasets. This groundbreaking capability allows GenAI to produce original text, images, music, and more , opening endless possibilities across various creative and professional fields.

If this promising technology has caught your attention, then an AI symposium is for you and your team! With an AI Symposium, you can learn about key topics , starting with an exploration of what AI and GenAI are , how each works, and where they can and should be applied. This foundational knowledge sets the stage for a deep dive into prompt engineering and introducing best practices to achieve optimal results when using GenAI. Learning this enables the streamlining of tasks, automation of processes, and saves time and resources. It empowers individuals to leverage AI effectively, unlocking new development opportunities .

Another critical area of focus for the symposium are the main risks associated with GenAI. Providing an overview of these risks, with real-world examples and techniques to mitigate them , attendees also learned about the main rules and regulations regarding GenAI within Siemens, ensuring they are well-informed about compliance and ethical considerations.

Highlighting the primary GenAI tools available at Siemens, (SiemensGTP, Co-Pilot, AI Attack, and GAIA), customers were able to see several GenAI use cases developed by Siemens GBS that solved problems similar to theirs. These included AI assistants and companions that aid employees in their daily tasks by answering questions or searching for information, document intelligence applications that demonstrate how AI can search and process information in documents, and automated request handling systems that illustrate how AI can streamline tasks such as directly responding to emails.

Inside the customer’s mind

With an enthusiastic turn out, the symposium saw participants from all over different Factory departments such as Finance, Manufacturing, Research & Development, Quality, Supply Chain, Order Management and Production Planning, as well as a team from Smart Infrastructure Sales Mexico.

The event was filled with excitement and curiosity, attracting attendees eager to explore new horizons. Among them, Isaac Garcia Peña, Head of Operations at Siemens Monterrey, stated that “gaining knowledge of the newest technology tools in the industry and services” and “pursuing innovation to transform their current processes” were the main motivations to attend the symposium.

Isaac also talked about GenAI as the main topic of the event and stated:

“The most interesting [aspect] was to see how this tool can optimize our current processes and provide recommendations that can improve our team´s productivity and implement the use of Chatbot Machine Learning to analyze how this tool can help us predict some behaviors in customer demand and product performance, so we can make some decisions in advance”.

Regarding discussions on the potential of AI, Icela García Mena, Head of Operations at Siemens city of Juárez, Chihuahua, said: "from optimizing production lines to enhancing predictive maintenance, it's clear that AI is not just the future but a necessity for staying competitive in today's market."

Let GBS find the solution to your business

Across the two-week engagement and customer collaboration over 120 participants worked through 16 hours of design thinking sessions. Starting from 181 initial pain points , they developed 77 initial ideas , of which 15 are big bets - innovative projects with a high scalable potential. Following the AI Symposiums, the Siemens GBS team is now working diligently to turn the generated ideas into reality.

Proving to be a great success, the GenAI Symposium empowered our customers to see the potential of this new technology to automate tasks, make data-driven decisions, optimize processes and boost productivity . This resonated strongly with attendees, many of whom were exposed to AI for the first time, sparking interest in further learning and exploring future opportunities with our organization.

When asked about how this symposium’s outcome and how it can be advantageous for our clients, Diana Lourenco Penteado Greco, Head of GBS Mexico & Central America, stated, “We are constantly seeking ways to help our customers revolutionize their business. By bringing this symposium to them, we were able to better understand their needs and help them visualize how GBS can drive their innovation.”

To conclude, Dr. Francisco Duarte, Head of Innovation at Siemens GBS Digital Lab, emphasized the transformative potential of the AI Symposium.

“The teams who decide to bring the AI Symposium to their environment can expect an incredible experience, with learning, experiencing and ideating with AI and GenAI, understanding what it’s possible to do and what they can bring to their day-to-day work, as well as new opportunities to be further developed. In a short amount of time, it’s a transformation journey, where the goal is to learn how to be more productive using GenAI tools, as well as how to properly use it within the company.”

Thank you to all the contributors who made this journey a success and to our clients for their growth mindset and collaboration during these days. Let’s reimagine your business with (Gen)AI together!
